Bringing my email list back to life – initial steps

Here’s a blogging / marketing post about a struggle I am facing recently.

It’s been months since I last sent a newsletter out. As part of this challenge, I wanted to send one and realized it would be a good time to do so (use the momentum and all).

I’ve used MailerLite for 5 years now and have been pretty happy with it. So going back to last week – I logged into my account and realized a couple of surprising things :

At this point, I realized that quite some things changed and one of the changes actually was a breaking one for me: I can’t use their service anymore (for the techies out there – MailerLite now imposes 2048 bit DKIM verification keys).

After quite some back and forth, I realized that this change is incompatible with my (and many others) domain host and that there’s no alternative other than changing domain host (which I really don’t want to do).

Hence, I realized this was the perfect opportunity to move to a different newsletter service and I decided to set up and use MailPoet, which is also a part of Automattic.

The one thing left to do is to clean up those 2000 emails to get a nice sized list. I decided to follow their instructions in this document and reconfirm my subscribers.

So you can now find a brand-new newsletter sign up area on my (called “Sign up :)” ). If you were a subscriber already, you’ll receive a new communication / email asking you to resubscribe.

I know it’s a sort of a mess, but I didn’t have a choice so might as well look at it from a glass half full sort of situation 🙂
